Art Classes

Art Road provides art instruction at Edison Elementary School in Detroit. With the help of Daimler Financial Services, we were able to renovate the art room. We refinished the floors and rehabilitated an old unused greenhouse attached to the art room.

Students create art with the help of a teacher who usually is a practicing professional artist. Our students regularly produce work that exceeds standards set forth by the Michigan Educational standards.

Our students range in age from 6 to 12. And class sizes are large: about 30 students per class. Since 30 kids would be a lot to manage especially with active art in the room, we supplement the teacher with volunteers who help distribute the project and answer questions. Perhaps you have an interest in volunteering.

Take a look at the gallery of art created by our students.

Adopt Mustang Sally!

A $10,000 donation to Art Road will allow us to bring art class to 40 students for the entire school year. And, you will be the proud owner of Mustang Sally. Created on March 26, 2010 by 125 Art Road students and fourteen volunteers, the giant art dog was inspired by lovable thirteen-inch-tall "art dogs" created by students in our classrooms.  Contact us if you want to know more about adopting Mustang Sally.
